In December 2018 through February 2019, in three localities in Donetsk Oblast: Dobropillya, Bilytske, Bilozerske, MDI has implemented the energy efficiency improvement in 19 multi-apartment blocks with homeowners associations. The works on thermal insulation of heating pipes in the buildings were fulfilled under TREND Project with financing from DTEK. Physical works and regulation of heat energy carrier supplied to the buildings were implemented with support from the local utility company “Dobro“.
MDI trained heads of homeowners associations of 19 buildings in the methodology of regulation of heat energy carrier and after the training 8 homeowners associations (7 in Dobropillya and 1 in Bilytske) were able to do regulation themselves. In most of these buildings heat energy consumption was reduced by 15-17% and in some buildings reduction reached 24-26% as compared to the same period of time last year.
Heads of few homeowners associations did not show much interest in heat energy carrier regulation and in reducing heating costs in their buildings and consequently reduction of such costs did not exceed 5-6%.
Regulation was carried out only during 21 days out of total 28 days in February during which consumption of heat energy was metered. Meter data for February 2019 was compared with the data for November 2018, December 2018 and January 2019 and based on such comparison the conclusions on the effectiveness of this measure were made.
During the period when regulation was implemented, in 19 residential blocks, heat energy consumption was reduced by 163.4 GCal that is equivalent to UAH 184 000 (tariff: 1125,55 UAH/GCal). Average consumption of heat energy in the buildings dropped to 19 Mcal/m2 of heated space, or 21.3 UAH/m2.
Harmful emissions reduction by the local utility company is marked as 29.5 tons/month.
Details on results and savings during the first month after completion of assembly works are presented in the Report on Thermal Insulation of Distribution Pipes in 19 Residential Blocks in Dobropillya, Bilytske, Bilozerske (in Ukrainian).
