Dnipro Academy of life-long learning has hosted almost 70 representatives of secondary schools from Dnipro region, who on 22 April 2019 gathered in Dnipro at the Educational Forum on education reform according to the New Ukrainian School principles. The Forum took place under EE Schools – New Generation Project that for more than 7 years has been successfully implemented by MDI with DTEK financing. Within 6 waves, more than 2800 secondary schools took part in the Project. In 2018-2019 school year, almost 1300 schools registered in the program.
Viktor Sychenko, Dean of the Academy, greeted the participants. Ronam Gladkovsyi, sr specialist with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, noted that the Ministry has been cooperating with the Project since 2012. Thanks to the Project, children develop the necessary competencies in energy saving and housing and communal services, that is why it is advisable to introduce the training courses under the Project or integrate their content into other school subjects. Oksana Baturlina, Head of the Department at the Academy, supported launch of such experiment in Dnipro region. Kadriia Safiulina, Sr Project Consultant, has informed Forum participants about Project goal and objectives, training courses available for students via the free distance learning program (first of such kind in Ukraine), contests and other Project activities.
Olena Bazhanovska, representative of reginal DTEK department, as well as teachers took part in the discussion, among them representatives of Zelenodolsk, Dnipro and other cities of Dnipro Oblast, who actively supported the implementation of Project courses either via introducing some topics to the subjects in the existing curriculum, or via including these courses to optional range, to subsequently make them compulsory.
