The issue of fees for installation, maintenance and replacement of commercial metering units according to the newly adopted Laws of Ukraine “On Housing and Communal Services” and “On Commercial Metering of Thermal Energy and Water Supply” is so urgent, that, to meet the numerous requests of the utility companies, MDI ltd has conducted two additional consultancy events – on July 25 and 31 respectively.

On a week of July 8-12, Kadriia Safiulina, Anatolii Koliienko and Yuliia Sviezhentseva, MDI Consultants as the international experts of the USAID Central Asia Еnergy Links Project (USAID Project) have delivered two seminars in Dushanbe, Tajikistan – for media on July 10 and for energy companies – on July 11. On July 12, they participated in the Public Outreach Group (POG) meeting. This POG was set up at the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MERW) of the Republic of Tajikistan within the WG on EE and RES.

The seminars went very well. The participants proved to be active listeners, made a number of questions and engaged in discussions. In the aftermath, they sincerely thanked for the provided useful information and practical skills.

The Sixth Wave of the EES-NG Project has just ended. This time, it offered opportunities also to the primary school pupils all across Ukraine, who unveiled the “Secrets of the EE House”, learnt how to be proactive homeowners, co-owners of the multi-residential building, and how to save energy resources.

The total of participant schools is 1272. In the 2^nd semester of 2018-2019 school year, 834 schools were engaged, including 487 establishments from urban areas and 347 – from rural regions. 7628 students were studying the courses, and 1179 teachers were acting as mentors.

This year, 20 schools went for the new option and studied the course “My EE House” for the 4^th grade, based on the tailored syllabus and manual.

Recently MDI has organized a round table to discuss the results of the pilot implementation of the optional course “My EE house”, designed for 4th grade pupils. In late June, we have received the official letter form the Institute of Educational Curriculum Modernization under the Ministry of Education (MoE). As the letter states, the committee on pedagogics and methodology for primary school under the scientific and methodological educational board at MoE had conducted a scientific and methodological assessment of the program textbook for 4th grade pupils “The Secrets of the EE House” and the correspondent syllabus “My EE house”, prepared by Kadriia Safiulina, MSc, associate prof.

No doubt, it was a good omen, that the round table dedicated to the results of the pilot implementation of “My EE House” course for 4th grade pupils took place on June 6 2019. This very day, 40 years ago in 1979, UNO established the World Environment Day. The event was organized at the premises of Puliui Lyceum of Lviv, that gave a warmhearted welcome to 20 primary school teachers from participant cities of DTEK “EE Schools – New Generation Project” – Burshtyn, Zelenodolsk, Lviv and cities of Donetsk Oblast.
Kadriia Safiulina, sr consultant at MDI, MSc, associate prof., welcomed the participants as the author of the optional course “My EE House”, consisting of the respective syllabus and textbook “The Secrets of the EE House”.

Last year MDI and DTEK Company decided to introduce a series of the new contests, including “Plant a tree!” one. And we did not regret, because we launched a new initiative for common good and taught the students to care about the environment. Now some of them, with the help of the adults, are literally planting forests, while others spread the word about "Green school challenge" at schools, daring each new grade to plant trees.

Thanks to every participant, this year 6779 coniferous and 5621 deciduous trees have been planted, not to mention bushes and flowers. The total of the planted trees (more than 12 400) equals to 52 ha of public urban green zones – parks, squares, boulevards (the standards stipulate 230 – 265 trees per ha).
