Role of MDI: sub-contractor to Sweco

Implementation period: September 2025 – March 2026

Beneficiary: Rivne City Council

Rivne Energy Efficiency Project is intended to finance energy efficiency, renewable energy and energy security measures in hospitals, kindergartens, schools and other public buildings in Rivne, Ukraine.

A principal objective of the Assignment is to perform technical review of potential measures to reduce energy demand and improve indoor climate in public buildings, identify and justify an investment programme suitable for financing by the Bank.

MDI’s specialists will contribute to preparation of the Environmental and Social Assessment, as well as Gender Equality and Human Capital Assessment.

Expected results for MDI:

• Environmental and Social baselines for Rivne prepared
• A completed Environmental and Social Assessment of the city of Rivne’s E&S management systems and capacity, contractor management, waste management with particular focus on asbestos containing materials, worker and community H&S during construction works (dust, noise and traffic), life and fire safety, gender, GBVH, stakeholder engagement and grievance management.
• A completed Environmental and Social Assessment of the city of Rivne’s current and proposed operations in terms of compliance with national legislation, national or local permitting requirements.
• Coordination with national EIA process ensured.
• Gender Equality and Human Capital Assessment prepared.
